Connor's move to Energy Corse Italia again proved successful with his third podium in four outings for the Italian Factory Team. This time the venue was Las Vegas competing in the XV Supernationals at the Rio Hotel.
Fellow brits Matthew Graham and George Russell were in attendance along with American stars Austin Self and Santino Ferruchi. Other noteable attendees were Thiago Vivacqua, Kevin Lavelli, and Lance Stroll.
The event is one of the largest Karting races in the world with over 530 competitors in all classes, Jupp entered Tag Junior along with 85 other hopefulls.
Wednesday & Thursday testing was very challenging on an entirely new set up, it was compounded by the tight twisty street circuit laid out in the Rio Hotel Car Park. There was absolutely no room for error as the track was walled off with plastic motorway barriers filled with water (the wall) these barriers were unforgiving and had earlier resulted in some broken bones in the gearbox class.
Jupp managed a superb 5th place in qualifying despite struggling with his approach to two turns, technical difficulties were also present making progress slow.
The heats went well with Jupp posting a very consistent 2nd, 3rd & 4th placing him P2 for the all important final. The final was a hectic battle at the front with Jupp being overtaken by Russell who in turn was chasing Austin Self in first position. Self was about to have race changing luck when his exhaust fell off leaving Russell to push ahead alone chased by Jupp. Although Jupp took a few tenths out of Russell on several laps he could not catch him in time and saw Russell cross the line in first.
Jupp said "my thanks go to the organisers for staging such a wonderfull event, I would also like to thank Clayton Snow, Mick Panigagda, Spike and Dan Faulkner for supporting me and making me fast".
I would like to dedicate this podium to Dan Wheldon who should have took part this weekend in another class. I would have loved to meet him in person but sadly it was not to be".
